I am concerned about the state of child care. I am asking you to push for a formal, independent evaluation of the ACE National 10-point framework before my province commits to its next child care agreement. The alternative is renewing a program no one has shown how to pay for.

[Please share how this issue affects your family]

The facts are on the record. Ontario’s Auditor General found the province would need almost $2 billion to reach the $10/day target, and the Minister of Education has warned of a shortfall of about $2 billion a year under the current funding structure. The current agreement ends March 31, 2027, and fees are held only until December 31, 2026. Every centre that exits the program or closes is public money lost and parents pushed out of the workforce.

The ACE framework is a structured way to close the gap.

Tiered affordability pairs an inflation-indexed fee cap with a budget-controlled pool of $10/day spaces for the families who need them most. The province sets its exposure instead of chasing it.

A defined standard service day funds the hours most families actually use.

Standardized operating grants and risk-based audits cut administrative costs for operators and service system managers alike.

Part of the savings funds workforce stabilization, capital protection, and a non-RECE wage floor. Keeping existing spaces costs far less than rebuilding lost ones.

I am asking for two things. First, please speak with the Minister and ask for him to commit to the ACE framework as the starting point for the next long-term agreement. Second, please meet with representatives of ACE yourself. Their plan will work, and we need it now.
Every month of delay costs Ontario licensed spaces and working parents.

Sincerely,
